Adolygiad o lyfr Marc Driscoll 'Confessions of a Reformission Rev' [2/3]
Confessions of a Reformission Rev: Hard Lessons From an Emerging Missional Church gan Mark Driscoll (Zondervan, £9.99)
Parhad o'r postiad blaenorol...
Megathema'r llyfr yw fod yr eglwys i fodoli fel cenhadaeth ac nid fel clwb i'r cadwedig rai yn unig felly wrth wneud penderfyniadau ar sut y dylid cynnal gwasanaethau ac ati yn yr eglwys rhai rhoi yr ystyriaeth gyntaf i'r rhai di-gred a fydd yn troi mewn ac nid i'r teulu Cristnogol bach neis. Mae hon yn wers galed sydd yn rhaid i Eglwysi Cymru ei dysgu os am weld twf eto. Fel enghraifft o'r egwyddor hon ar waith mae Driscoll yn rhoi hanesyn am deulu o efengylwyr-brethren tra ceidwadol a ddechreuodd fynychu'r eglwys ac a ddywedodd y buasen nhw yn dod yn aelodau ar yr amod y cai eu plant nhw gannu handbells fel rhan o'r gwasanaeth a fyddai, a dweud y lleiaf, jest yn ymddangos yn wierd i'r punks a'r indies di-gred a fyddai'n troi mewn i'r gwasanaethau. Dyma oedd ymateb Driscoll wedi hanes y teulu yma:
It was at that time that I realized our church would never have a sign out front that said “Everyone welcome,” because i did not want everyone. Instead, I wanted people who would reach out to the lost young people in our area. So the Bretheren folks and their handbells left our church. tt. 63
Ar un llaw mae agwedd Driscoll yn reit, wel, cas tuag at y teulu dan sylw ac o fewn y sin Gristnogol Gymraeg nid oes yna ddigon o bobl yma i fedru taflu pobl od allan o'ch eglwys. Os taflu pawb od allan o'r eglwysi Cymraeg ni fyddai llawer o bobl ar ôl gyda ni! Ond mae sentiment Driscoll yn yr achos yma yn iach sef rhoi prif ystyriaeth i anghenion y di-gred ac nid i ofynion personol pobl a theuluoedd sydd eisoes wedi eu hachub.
Agwedd hynod ddiddorol o'r llyfr yw'r lle mae Driscoll yn ei roi i waith y diafol, mewn sawl lle yn y llyfr maen adrodd sut y bu Satan a'r waith y ceisio taro'r gwaith, yr eglwys a'i harweinwyr oddi ar y cledrau. Mae hyn wrth gwrs yn rhywbeth sy'n weddol estron i ni yng Nghymru efallai oherwydd fod dim byd o werth i Satan geisio ei ddinistrio yn ein eglwysi o bosib? Fe ddyfynnaf ychydig frawddegau am un o hanesion sobreiddiol Driscoll:
A few weeks before we launched our little church plant in the fall of 1996, I was perplexed by an older man who had become something of a mentor to me. He was pushing some theological ideas that i did not agree with... I was conflicted. On one hand, I really liked the idea of having a seasoned older pastor in the church... on the other hand, my very discerning wife had the same Ghost check in her gut as I did... [a] a clue came in thew form of a prophetic dream... while i was sleeping one night the Holey Spirit gave me a dream in which I was standing in the foyer of our rented church on the opening night of our church plant... the older man walked in.. he informed me that he wanted to pastor the church and that I should step aside and let him. God then spoke Actes 20:28-31 saying:
“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard!”
...On the opening night of our church plant in October of 1996, the service was getting started when my wife realized that she had forgotted her Bible in the foyer. I jumped up to get it, and as I turned around, I found myself standing alone in the foyer, just as I had been in my dream. The older man then walked in teh door... and came toward me speaking every word he had in my dream. I was so stunned that I was momentarily speechless... I told him to leave our church and never come back.
A few months later, another older pastor contacted me and said that the man God warned me of had been kicked out of his denomination on suspicion of undermining young pastors and taking money from young churches. tt. 74-76
Mae'r hanesyn yna a sawl un arall yn y llyfr yn eich brawychu ond maen yn eich atgoffa o'r newydd fod pob Cristion a phob eglwys yn rhan o frwydr gosmig ysbrydol. O ran profiad personol dim ond dau enghraifft amlwg yr wyf fi wedi profi o ymosodiadau ar waith y deyrnas gan Satan, y ddau yn ymosodiadau ar ffrindiau i mi tra oedden nhw yng nghanol cenhadaeth gyffroes a ffrwythlon. Os ydy'r eglwys yng Nghymru yn debygol o adfywhau eto mae angen i ni fod yn barod am yr ymosodiadau gan Satan a'i angylion syrthiedig fydd yn ceisio tanseilio unrhyw adferiad.
Un o brif gryfderau Driscoll a'r hyn sydd wedi peri iddo bellhau ei hun o adain Emergent yr Emerging Movement ydy ei bwyslais ar dramgwydd yr efengyl ac awdurdod yr ysgrythur. Dyma maen nodi:
I am particularly concerned... with some growing trends among [the emerging church movement]: the rejection of Jesus' death on the cross as a penal substitute for our sins... the rejection of God's sovereignty over the knowledge of the future... This is ultimately all the result of a dimished respect for the perfection, authority, and clarity of Scripture... tt.22
Dyma wedd bwysig i'r llyfr a chenhadaeth Driscoll a'i eglwys yn gyffredinol sef bod estyn allan mewn dull cyfoes ac ol-fodernaidd ddim gyfystyr a chyfaddawdu ar graidd efengyl Crist. Yr un ffydd a roddwyd unwaith i'r saint ydy efengyl Crist ond maen rhaid i ni, fel gwnaeth Driscoll yn Seattle ei gyflwyno mewn cyfrwng newydd i bob cenhedlaeth. Hen efengyl mewn cyfrwng newydd.
Parhad yn y postiad nesaf....
